One with Technology

At a basketball game, we threw streamers on the first point

But someone reached their hand behind my phone and threw my phone down to the court on accident.

At any rate, my phone was destroyed completely and I felt like a lost puppy.

So I wondered, how attached are we to our phones and technology in general?

I check my email probably 23x a day, facebook 40x, tweet, tumble, pin, instagram, the whole shabang. I wonder what it would be like to go back to having a “dumb” phone that can only text/call. I’ll let you know how it goes (I have my old decrepit phone from high school now) , but how is someone supposed to have a social media presence without a smart phone??? PROBLEMS.

Do any of you use a dumb phone or go completely cell-phone less? Comment below, please, I’m going to need help going through withdrawal!

J and I aren’t very “couple-y.” In over 1 yr of dating we have 3 photos together and almost never dress couple-y, neither formals/cocktails nor halloween. But after seeing this I thought I’d ask J to be BamBam. PS. That is not a picture of us.

4 Trends in Higher Education

Standard

With changing college student demographics (older, increased minority presence, and more part-time students) the learning needs have shifted. Business schools are promoting collaboration and team work more heavily, almost to the point of as many group assignments as individual assignments. Therefore, studying has changed in the following ways:

1) Innovation.

Students in groups are encouraged to be innovative and come up with solutions to unanswered problems. Technology has transformed college. Need to know a quick fact such as “In what town was the MGM lion born?” (Answer: Dublin Zoo, Dublin, Ireland) just check google. Many homework problems are on the internet with solutions, henceforth, professors are asking students to creatively apply the techniques to finding possible solutions.

2) Sustainability.

Not only do students care about a sustainable career post-college, students care about going to sustainable colleges. According to a Princeton Review Survey 48% of students included environmental concerns in their college choice. The Y generation cares about the impact on the globe  because of their actions.

3) Durability

Yes, students want their degree to mean something in the future. “A bachelor’s degree is the new high school diploma.” On the bright side, a more educated global population leads to enhanced quality of life. Education needs to be continuous without end.

and most importantly

4) Flexibility

Students do not all study in the same way. A university needs to provide various solutions for a variety of work, such as tables and chairs that can be put together to make collaborative spaces and easily pulled apart for independent work.

Avocado & Formaldehyde Similarities

Avocado

Have you ever let an avocado go bad? Or maybe made up guac and let it sit in the bowl for too long? DO NOT DO THAT!

Rotten or oxidized avocado smells like fetal pig dissection, or maybe cat, or cow eye ball. Ugh, I will never the horrific memories of anatomy lab out of my mind or the smell of rotten avocado.

SAVE YOURSELF!
